Principal Highways
Malawi benefits from good principal highways such as the well-maintained M1, from which secondary unpaved roads vary in condition.
Rainy Season
The rainy season (November–April) affects some routes more than others. Plan your route accordingly.
Off-Road
Use a 4x4 if venturing off main roads. Hazards include potholes, pedestrians, wildlife and cyclists.
Visa-Free Entry
In February 2024, Malawi removed the visa requirement for 79 nationalities — meaning ZERO red tape for many visitors.
